New British Embassy & Residence
N’Djamena, Chad
New British Embassy & Residence, N’djamena, Chad
OSi were contracted to undertake the transformation of an unoccupied residential building and site into a high-quality Embassy & Residence.
The project’s primary objective involved the retention and comprehensive renovation of the existing residential house to establish a fully functioning Embassy office on the ground floor and an Ambassador’s Residence on the first floor.
Chad suffers from frequent power outages so two new generators were installed to meet the facility’s requirements and need for reliable power.
Mechanically, 30no. Split AC systems were installed, as well as a new water filtration plant room to supply clean water throughout the compound.
The logistical difficulties of being a landlocked nation in Africa, coupled with the harsh working conditions in an arid climate of Sub-Saharan Africa and the critical need for security, posed significant challenges.
The successful completion of the project was achieved through a partnership with an external safety and security provider as well as identifying useful and trustworthy local contacts, highlighting the importance of collaboration and forward planning on projects such as these.
